1. Who We Are
ScanMe Tech Innovations Ltd, trading as BarcoPay, is the data controller for personal data collected through the BarcoPay platform. Registered in Nigeria (RC: 9433246), operating in compliance with the NDPR 2019 and Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Contact: legal@scanmetech.ng
2. Data We Collect
We collect your full legal name, Nigerian phone number, date of birth, BVN, NIN, and for higher tiers, government-issued photo ID and residential address. We collect biometric data (fingerprint and face recognition) for account security. Biometric data is stored exclusively on your device — never on our servers.
3. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to verify identity, process payments, prevent fraud, comply with CBN and NFIU AML/KYC requirements, and communicate essential account information. We do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Data Sharing
We share data only with: Paystack (payment processing), Termii (OTP delivery), NIBSS and NIMC (identity verification), AWS (encrypted cloud hosting), and regulatory bodies including NFIU, CBN, and NITDA where legally required.
5. Your Rights Under the NDPR
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, and port your personal data. To exercise any right, contact legal@scanmetech.ng. We respond within 14 days.
6. Data Retention
Identity and transaction data is retained for a minimum of 5 years from account closure. Biometric references are deleted immediately upon account closure.
7. Security
All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256. Payment confirmation is processed server-side only.
8. Children
BarcoPay is not intended for users under 18. Contact legal@scanmetech.ng if you believe a minor has registered.
9. Changes
We will notify you through the BarcoPay app when material changes are made. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
